Donor Advised Funds, aka DAFs, continue to be wildly popular giving vehicles for donors. What's not to like? The donor receives a tax deduction right away and has the flexibility to decide when and which causes to support at their leisure.

DAFs have many advantages for donors, so it is important for Development professionals to understand this dynamic form of giving.

Join Seattle Opera's Director of Development Lisa Bury for an information sharing session to learn more about DAFs and how your organization can inspire increased Donor Advised Fund giving.

You'll learn answers to the following questions:

What's a DAF?
Why we should care about DAFs?
How do we maximize their potential for impact?

Lisa Bury, Director of Development, Seattle Opera

Captivated by music at age four, Lisa Bury continues to pursue her love of the performing arts as Seattle Opera’s Director of Development. She leads all of the company’s contributed revenue activity including a $60 million capital campaign, $10.5 million annual fund including the endowment draw, expanding planned giving program, and endowment building efforts. She began her career as a marketing intern at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and continued there to nurture donor relationships in a series of giving officer positions. Lisa has led the fundraising teams at Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Arizona Opera, and Florida Grand Opera. Her volunteer activities include participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of Darkness Walk and serving as Co-Chair of OPERA America’s Development Network and on the boards of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras (ACSO) and Advancement Northwest chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. A graduate of Southern Methodist University’s MBA and MA in Arts Administration program, she has presented at the conferences of OPERA America, League of American Orchestras, ACSO, Northwest Development Officers Association, and AFP Advancement Northwest.
